Dtox Day Spa's Happy Hour Fridays

What gives you pleasure? Eating, drinking, spa-ing? If your answer is "all of the above," then we've got just the party for you. Once a month, Dtox Day Spa offers "Happy Hour Fridays," a no less than brilliant concept that combines cutting loose and chilling out. Dtox's chicly appointed, spacious facilities (read our full review of the spa here) lend themselves well to hosting a party. During Happy Hour Fridays, the soundtrack switches from Zen to upbeat and the spa's communal relaxation lounge is filled with partygoers sipping, snacking and socializing between mini spa treatments. We and a buddy booked one treatment each for February's session, and then arrived a half hour or so before our sessions were scheduled to begin so we'd have a chance to catch up and nosh a bit. Each treatment lasts 20 minutes, and guests can book one for $39, two for $69 or three for $99. Choices include a custom facial, manicure, pedicure, chair massage, foot and calf massage, hand and arm massage, neck and shoulder massage, hand and foot scrub, and Reiki. We opted for the foot and calf massage (dubbed "Girls on Heels"). Massage therapist Mo worked wonders on our lower extremities, and we were practically dozing on the massage table in spite of the persistent techno beats emanating from the sound system.

After our all-to-brief yet blissful session, we returned to the bar and the snack table for another round before settling back in on one of the comfy couches to chat and relax until Happy Hour ended at 9PM. We couldn't think of a finer way to spend the evening.
