Even before your treatment begins, visiting Pure Aesthetics/Pure Wellness is a lovely escape. The skin care spa is situated in the hills above the city, just off Mulholland Dr. in the professional building behind the Beverly Glen Circle shopping center. Unlike the anonymous-looking building exterior, the 3,400-square-foot space gives the impression that no expense was spared in the design – everything is clean, crisp and aqua-themed and the atmosphere is clinical yet serene.
As PA/PW founder Anastasia C. Ayala outs it, "Beautiful skin can have a powerful first impression. It can infuse us with great confidence and ease." To this end, PA/PW clearly aims to foster a long-term relationship with clients to get their complexion looking its absolute best and keep it that way. Our treatment began with a facial diagnostic; aesthetician Joo-Mee analyzed our skin with a machine that uses white light to take pictures of the face, revealing sun damage, inflammation and developing wrinkles. The diagnostic showed our skin to be dehydrated with areas of hyper-pigmentation and inflammation, so Joo-Mee used that data to inform our treatment.
Pure Aesthetics/Pure Wellness has over a dozen pharmaceutical-grade skin care lines on hand so that they can choose the right products for each individual's needs. Joo-Mee used mostly B. Kamins products for our facial, which began with a gentle cleanser. Then came a long and blissful massage with pure cucumber oil, a pumpkin enzyme masque for gentle exfoliation, extractions, another moisture-rich masque and finally the application of an intense hydrating serum, eye cream and sunscreen. Afterward, our skin was smooth and supple without being shiny or oily. Joo-Mee sent us home with lots of free samples and instructions on how to use them, and even called next day to see how our skin was doing. Now that's a relationship we can get excited about.
