Our visit to Skinpeccable in Brentwood at first brought to mind the clinical setting of a dermatologist's office: simple office building, receptionists in white, no mirrors. Then we were led to our treatment room, where the mood was a bit more relaxing. After a brief consultation with the doctor (this is, in fact, a dermatologist's office) we decided on a microdermabrasion treatment to get rid of layers of dry, dead skin and help unclog our pores. It was our first such treatment and we had a few reservations (Is it really a sand-blaster? Will my face turn red?), but the cool and competent doctor's assistant walked us through it. It felt like a really good facial scrub, but with less mess. We could literally feel the yuck being sucked from our pores, revealing smooth, new skin. After the 15-minute procedure was over, we got a quick swab of glycolic acid toner (it didn't sting much at all) and were slathered with an SPF 30 tinted moisturizer (newly uncovered skin is super vulnerable to the sun, so the SPF is a must!). Our skin felt so soft we understood why so many of our friends are addicted to the treatment. There's one catch to brand-spankin'-new skin, however: You can't have it all the time. Microdermabrasion is only recommended once a month to allow your skin the chance to naturally renew itself. A little patience for a glowing complexion? Sounds like a fair trade to us.

Very Cold, Sunday, 21 September 2008
Written by HHZen
I went here looking for a spa-like experience for my microdermabrasion treatment. Instead it felt like a cold doctor's office, and the doctor himself tried to sell me on other treatments before I even finished my consult, which I found very tacky. Most offensive was his insistence that I lob off a mole on my face that I've had my entire life and like just fine, thankyouverymuch. Nothing warm about this experience...
